Hinduism: Unity or Division ---> PERIOD 10
Considering what you know about Hinduism's caste system, yogas (4 paths), and views on God, post a PARAGRAPH comment responding to the question: Does Hinduism lead to unity or division? Provide specific examples. You may use your notes.
It leads to division because there would be much more unity if everyone in the Hindu religion believed in the same god, contrary to what is going on at the moment.

DeleteThe Catholics and Protestants both believe in the same god and have an almost identical religion, but they still argue and have wars about it. An example of this would be of what is happening in Ireland, where people are bombing each other over whether they are Catholic or Protestant.
DeleteI think Hinduism leads to division because a lot of different people believe in different gods. It also leads to division because of the caste system. It's saying that even though it says its all equal but if you are supposedly at the "head" that means you are at the highest part in gods body also as the highest part in the caste system.

DeleteI think that Hinduism leads to division. If you start with the caste system, each "group" is already predetermined from where you are born, and how much money you have. People have said that you cannot change this and it is set in stone. Another idea to consider is the changing of the beliefs of gods. Most people on the Hindu faith know there is only one god, but they all have different forms of Him, and that could lead to misunderstandings and even disputes that lead to anger.
ReplyDeleteHinduism leads to unity within a group of other Hindus. They all believe that there is one final and almighty god Brahman. If they all believe that there is one god, and they all believe that there is one way to achieve unity with that god, then there would be no incentive to conflict with other Hindus. For example, Hindus believe that there is a small piece of their almighty god, Brahman, inside of each other, so they would not be compelled to physically or emotionally harm one another because that would be equivalent to physically or emotionally hurting the Brahman.

DeleteI think it leads to unity. I think this beacuse ultimatley any hindu believes in the brahman. I think this brings them together because every religion is based ojn believing in a god, and in this case is is the brahman, despite minor detail differences.
ReplyDeleteI think Hinduism leads to Unity, because everyone in Hinduism believe in the same Gods and that brings them together as a group. For example when they pray together at their churches, or celebrate the same Holidays. That's all because of the same religion they believe in.
ReplyDeleteHinduism leads to unity within other Hindus. They all have the same beliefs and they all practice the same things. The only thing that is different is their castes. For example, if someone is a teacher and someone else needs to learn how to do something, then they work together. It brings them closer, which creates unity.
ReplyDeleteHinduism leads to division now because the different caste systems don't rely on each other because they can get stuff that they need online. The people within the same caste are unified because they do the same thing. For example, if the caste is a bunch of farmers they could each grow an individual crop and trade with each other. In the times where there wasn't internet or phones people relied on each other a lot more in the different caste systems which makes them united. In these times if only one person knew something he would have to teach to someone else so they could learn it. They couldn't look it up online.

DeleteI believe that Hinduism created division in a culture or group because It separates people based on their status. people may also believe in their different gods which may also create some kind of division or conflict. Since there are 3 different gods in this culture that each represent a different meaning not everyone will agree on the same one. Go along with what I managed to say in the beginning of this paragraph,is the castes in which the people of this religion or culture are separated. If put myself in this way of division then I would begin to feel maybe left out of things or left feeling less important than someone else of a higher caste. So basically, I feel that Hinduism creates division.
ReplyDeleteNice job. It explains a lot about division.
DeleteHinduism can lead to unity in my opinion. People rely on other people to tell them about god and thinks like reincarnation as well as karma. But at the same time it causes division because they have different ways of connecting with different people, as in since there is no god there is no place to worship with people who believe in buddhism. As for the caste things, they can connect with their family about what caste they were born into and when they go to things like we watched in the movie where the low class kids when to a really good school all the kids could bond and whatnot. But at the same time they have to go out and find out stuff about their caste systems too.
ReplyDeleteHinduism can lead to division. The caste system is one reason. By splitting into different levels, it makes one group seem better than another. Within each group everyone is equal, but for example, a priest has more power than a farmer. Also, when each person worships a different god there is division. People can have arguments over which form is better. Hinduism is a religion that leads to division.
ReplyDeleteHinduism leads to division for many reasons. One reason is because of its caste system, which divides people into different groups, almost like a social ladder. There are people on the lower end and people on the higher end. However, most Hindus believe in the same things, so religion unites them with each other when they share common beliefs. But, mostly it leads to division because everyone believes something in a different way, and others may disagree with what you think which will divide people within the religion.
ReplyDeleteI think Hinduism leads to unity because even though people can believe in many different gods, they all lead to the Brahman or main god. Examples of this would be that all or most Hindus believe in reincarnation or that when you die, you will be born again until you meet moksha. Also, all Hindus praise the Ganges river and other sacred landmarks. Hinduism is one religion that can be expressed in many different ways.
ReplyDeleteI think that Hinduism leads to more division then unity. The caste systems today don't work the way that they used to when they were first created. The system divides groups of people into separate groups, and although they may say each caste is equal, the example given shows that the body part that each caste represents goes from the top of the body to the bottom. The views on god also segregate the people because people believe in different things and can cause arguments, not unity
ReplyDeleteHinduism leads to division because of the different casts that the people are born into. The people that are in the lowest cast are only allowed to marry the people in their cast. If they were in love with a person in the Braham cast they cannot marry them because of their status. This causes division because people are not allowed to be friends with or be married to them because of their status.
ReplyDeleteHinduism leads to unity because the caste system the four paths and the views on a God are shared by many Hindus. The caste system, although it has some division, within each caste, there is unity between people and friendships are made because they work together and are in the same caste. They rely on each other for support and this creates unity. The yogas create unity because everyone who follows Hinduism is working toward a common goal. They are are trying to fulfill their duties as a Hindu and believe that if they do so, they will have accomplished their goal. Their views on God also lead to unity, because although there may be different Gods, they all are there for the same purpose and Hindus feel the need to follow them, which unites them.
ReplyDeleteI think that Hinduism leads to Unity, I think this because Even thought they split people up using the caste system they are all still relay on each other to get there jobs done. Also even thought they may believe in different types of gods they all still come together and believe in the same god.
ReplyDeleteI think that Hinduism leads to division. This is because there are the different caste systems that look down on each other and some of the caste members think that they are better then other caste members in other castes.
ReplyDeleteIt leads to unity and division. It leads to division because people have different beliefs about god, whether it is Brahman or Shiva. Another reason it leads to division is because of the different castes. Priests are more respected than the workers and laborers. It leads to unity because they are all in the same religion and are believing in something.
ReplyDeleteDivision, because different people believe in different gods. Different people have different opinions and beliefs on how they picture living their lives and how. The 4 paths are for people to choose how they want to live.
ReplyDeleteUsing what we know about groth and closed mindset, I think that Hindusim leads to division. I think this because with a closed mindset, one doesn't make physical or intellectiual growth as much as someone with a groth mindset does. Having the caste system, is a predetermined path in life. I think that people would eventually get tired of having a predetermined path. And they might revolt, therefore, having a set path in life might cause disruption and division.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Hinduism leads to unity. The caste system and the views of God bring unity. The caste system bring unity by letting people of different castes help one another. Lets say there is a man in the working caste and he needs a merchant to sell something of his. This would bring them together by making the different castes work together and help one another. The views of God also bring the people together by bringing the people to one place to debate the views of God. One person could believe something else and they could come together and debate their beliefs. So yes, Hinduism brings unity.
