Considering what you know about Hinduism's caste system, yogas (4 paths), and views on God, post a PARAGRAPH comment responding to the question: Does Hinduism lead to unity or division? Provide specific examples. You may use your notes.
Hinduism can lead to both- but the caste system meant for division. The whole point of the caste system was to divide people, to split them into groups each different from each other. Yet they cause unity inside the groups. Each caste can connect with themselves, even though they are split from other castes.
I believe that Hinduism causes division. Even though there is one god, there are many different forms that people follow, so in some sort of way, people believe in different ideas. This would cause division because people would think that their ideas are better and think that they are right when everyone if right in their own way. Also, the four yogas are different methods and if you choose one path, someone can choose another. You might think that your decisions was better than the other person's decision, so you would separate yourself with that person.
I think the Hinduism leads to division. I think this because when people have different thoughts and beliefs they might argue and it can create division. Because there is so many forms of the Brahman and you can choose which one out of the main two to believe in this can cause conflict. I think this because people might think one god is better then the other because everyone has there own opinions. I think this type of conflict creates division.
I believe Hinduism leads to division. Different forms of Hinduism have different beliefs. Different beliefs cause violence and arguments. Even though Hinduism is supposed to cause unity, in the long run it causes division. Hindus can choose from four paths and every Hindu chooses different paths which divides them up.
I beilieve that Hinduism leads to unity. In Hinduism and in the Castes of Hinduism it makes the people closer because they are put into these groups of people who they are aloud to be with. Also, I think that if two people believe in the same thing as in Sheva, they will get along very well. Next, I believe that the Caste system would spread spread people away from some people that they are example freinds with, but it would put them closer to the people more like them.
Hinduism has some very good intentions. However many of these fall short because of human imperfections. It would be amazing to be able to just be given a job and enjoy it. We are human, and by nature we strive to be different, to be better. Maybe if we weren't so human we could just enjoy the good things in life and stop striving for perfection.
I think Hinduism has the intention of creating unity, but in reality creates division due to the multiple differences among the religion. Although each of the thousands of gods correlate with the almighty Brahman, all of the families chose their deity and which God they wish to worship. Bottom line is at the end of the day, I believe Hinduism creates division.
I think that Hinduism leads to both unity and division at the same time. It leads to unity because it is the main religion in India and people are brought together by the different deities. However, Hinduism leads to division because of the different castes people are born into which cause people in those castes to have unity within the caste, but other castes aren't part of the unity.
Hinduism may cause division because other people may think differently of that religion. You could say that they are more bias twords their religion. I also think that Hinduism can create unity in the religious world because if you share the same beliefs, virtues, and values with another person or group of people, Hinduism can create unification in a society.
I feel that hinduism leads to division. I think it leads to division for a couple reasons. One being that the caste system is all about division. It is basically created for that reason. To divide members into certain roles. Another being their views on god. Having different gods to believe in can create division, because people may argue who's god is better.
I believe that Hinduism leads to mostly diversity and a little unity. I believe that the caste system lead to people living in a group together which made people unite. The problem was that some people might not like the caste they are in. This leads to diversity because it separates peoples ideas and living styles. The idea of Brahman leads to diversity because it has many gods you can chose to worship in. Having many gods in one religion brings people to form different ideas and connect to god differently. If they only had one god to believe in this religion would bring unity causing everyone to form ideas off of one god.
Hinduism causes division, not unity. The caste system divides people, based on their family. The caste you are born into, is what you will stay in for the rest of your life. If you are a very good warrior, but you were born into the merchant caste, no matter what you did, you would never get to be a warrior. It has changed over time, but the caste system divides people and determines their lives. Your family follows a god, and that god is your families deity. You will follow that god and worship it over time and get very close to it. You will show bias to your god, believing that it is better than the others, because you are the closest to that god. This will start arguments and cause division.
I believe that Hinduism leads to division because with different castes and having one God in many forms it can create division. Having a caste system separates people because it creates a "pyramid" system where some people are on the top and some are at the bottom. Also, it makes people stay in that one caste they are assigned which some Hindus might not like. Having one God in many forms can create disagreement because some followers may believe that the form they are following is better than some one else. Overall, Hinduism creates division and disagreement.
I think Hinduism leads to division. Their caste system divides all their people into different sections in which they can not leave. Even if the person is not proficient in the job or doesn't like the job they were born into, they can't change what caste section they are in. This would create division, because not all the people are working together and people could get jealous of people in other caste sections with the job that they would prefer. Also, every household worships a different form of their god. This would create division, because they all have different beliefs in what form of god should be worshiped the most. Finally, Hindus can chose what path they want to follow in life, and that decision can divide them from the others that chose a different path.
I believe that Hinduism caste system causes division. It separates people into certain groups that they may not necessarily even want to be in and divides them. The Hinduism views on god are also cause division. There may only be on god but it has many different forms. People will chose a from to fallow but others will not chose to fallow that form. For example Greek gods had Roman forms but it caused dispute between the Greeks and Romans because they each thought their forms were dominant.
Hinduism causes division. The very fact that there are caste systems and different primary gods are for causing division. They were created to separate the people. The different forms of the brohman shows how people will generate their own beliefs to divide themselves. the caste system is specifically created for division for peace and to make people to their own jobs.
In my opinion, Hinduism leads to division. There is a caste system in Hinduism and it has social levels and groups. The caste system doesn't help bring them together because it separates the groups. The highest (Brahman) are teachers and priests. If they are the highest they get the best of the best because they are at the top and never need to even communicate with the bottom. Not everyone is equal in the caste system and it's not fair. Also, different beliefs in the different gods cause controversy. Others think that one god is better than the other and that their god is the only one who should be worshipped and honored. These people also tend to only communicate with the others that follow this belief. They don't talk to the others unless it's them claiming that their beliefs are right and that the others are wrong. Also, there are four yogas you could take to help reach enlightenment and some others may think that one yoga is useless and doesn't help you reach it. It divides them on opinion and the ones you take. Everything should be equal and if you believe in a different god, so what? You don't have to go around trying to spread your religion to another. They can believe in what they want, you have no control over that. Division breaks unity. Everybody is equal, no matter what the matter is.
I think hinduism leads to division. They believe in one god but people can fight about that. Everyone has different opinions on the god they believe in. They will think there god is better for many reason. This can create division.
I believe that Hinduism leads to unity because of their belief that god can take any form and that you should see god in everything. This prevents people taking the side of one belief and it unify's them. But I do not agree with the caste system cause I believe that the choices we make should determine the outcome of ones life, not a caste that you are born into. The caste system causes division not unity.
Above all, I believe that Hinduism engenders units with all people following the religion. Based on the caste system, people are determined at birth what they are going to set out to be in life. This was good in previous decades because people would have others to rely on and people that rely on them for certain things, engendering unity among all within the religion. Also, base on the 4 paths, I believe it brings people together through religion. It engenders a sense of unity through meditation in the religion. Furthermore, Hinduism leads to unity.
Hinduism leads to division. The caste system is way of division because it separates people into different jobs. over the years, the caste system has become distorted and some castes are considered a higher social class because of it. The highest caste is the Brahman, which are the priests. People of other castes cannot marry each other so that's also an example of division. If two people are in love, they should be able to marry not matter what caste. Separating people in general is a form of division. Even though the creators of the caste system might have had good intentions, it's still dividing people. Another example is the belief of different deity's. Different people have different beliefs and some could think others are superior because of it.
In my opinion hinduism leads to devision. The catse system is deviding their society and so are the three different gods. Catses take away oppertunity because when you are born into a caste, the caste may suit you or not. People need to be able to find what they are good at, not be told what they are going to do. When you have people doing things that they don't like, people won't be contributing tword the society in the best way possible. This takes away oppertunity and economic growth. When you have people studying different gods in the same religion, people are ununited. if everybody was studing one god, people would be united as one and this would bring their communtiy closer together. Hinduism leads to division.
