Just Society

What makes society just?

In order for a society to be just, morally right and fair, I think it needs to have a good leader, rules/standards, and have people who want to be considered good. For a society to have a good leader, I think they need someone who has a strong voice, good ideas, and also someone who is interesting to listen or talk to. If a leader has a few of these qualities then I think the society would be better off because they will have a leader who is setting a good example for the rest of them. I think a leader/ruler is responsible for big decisions in the society that need to be made, but they are not responsible entirely for how the people will react to their ideas. Having rules and guidelines set up for the society it will most likely influence the people's thoughts and actions in a positive way. Also, a society should have people who are considered good in order to have a just society because if there are only bad people in the society, not much good will come from it. I think someone is considered good if they generally follow the rules and are nice to others for the most part. If a society had some of these things, then it would make the society just.

  1. The mandate of heaven is a concept in ancient Chinese philosophy saying whether an emperor is able to rule.
I disagree with what the ruler and people are responsible for in a society because I feel like sometimes rulers are responsible for things that they do not know how to solve.

  2. I agree more with legalism not Confucianism because I feel that not everyone can be good or trusted unless we have rules. Having rules and punishments/rewards makes bad people want to obey the rules that will make a society just. Also, with Confucianism not everyone can live with this kind of set up because not everyone makes the right decisions all the time.
