To have a just society, numerous factors are necessary, such as a strong leader and people that make the right decisions and agree on a simple level. People learn from the society. The decisions they make are based off the society. They will not do something that a society will not approve, because the people in the society will think differently of them. A leader is responsible for the decisions of a community, not what other personal choices. A good leader will do everything necessary to make his or her society the best it can be. A leader is not responsible for a persons decisions. A leader has no control on what others do. They society will shape the decisions a person makes, because that is where they are known. A leader will make a strong society, which will help peoples decisions.
The mandate of heaven is how China chose who the emperor would be. The heaven chooses the person that would fit the best, and they lead. If they are a bad leader, they will get overthrown and the mandate will choose another leader. I agree with what the ruler and other people are responsible for. The ruler has to lead his people well and the people have to trust and follow, which is kind of like our society.
ReplyDeleteIn today's society, legalism is better than Confucianism because it sets rules for people to follow and punishments if broken. We need that today, because everything is advancing, and Confucianism will not work. We can't live and learn and trust off our elders our superiors. We need rules to follow and punishments if broken. For example, if a man breaks a law and Confucianism is the policy, it will go without punishment and the person will keep doing it. With legalism, he will be punished and will never do it again.
