Overall, in terms of leadership, factors affecting human nature, government, and honor codes, what makes a society just?
Certain aspects of a society need to be just themselves to make the society just overall. A ruler in society is responsible for keeping order in his people. Without one, almost all societies would have fallen apart. A ruler should be part of a government- and the two should work together in order to bring about a just society. A leader needs to be naturally good-willed so he puts that goodness towards his influence in society. As for honor codes, a leader need to apply those to society so the people know how to act and how to keep themselves together.
The Mandate of Heaven is a concept that determines how worthy an emperor is to rule. I do agree with the fact that how an emperor, or ruler, acts determines how much right he has to rule. If a ruler controls badly, the mandate describes that he no longer can rule. It also says that no one dynasty has a right to rule forever. I definitely agree with the general concept.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Confucianism more than I do with Legalism. Confucianism is principled in humaneness and virtue. It is a peaceful and efficient philosophy that influenced many Asian dynasties. Legalism, on the other hand, believes in law which I personally believe is not the answer to peace.
