What Makes A Society Just

Rulers are responsible for leading a country and protecting its people. If a ruler doesn't do his/her job, then they are a bad leader. A good leader cares for their people and country and tries to make things better than they already are. In terms of people, I think they are naturally good because when you are born, you are innocent and can't really do anything bad except be a fussy baby. Therefore, people are naturally good. Their society is what makes them bad or helps them stay good. For example, if someone lives in a really sketchy neighborhood with gangs and stuff then they will probably turn out bad, even though as a baby they were innocent and good. However, if someone lives in a really high class neighborhood like Hinsdale then they will probably be good, depending on their family also. With wealth, the government should distribute it evenly among people. It is not fair that some people are filthy rich and others are super poor hobos living on the streets. If everyone is really equal, then they should be equal in wealth. However, I do think that some people deserve more wealth than others. For example, teachers do more for people than lawyers so they should get payed more, but it is just the opposite. Even though education makes lawyers, lawyers still get payed more. Honor codes are created to make people good when in reality, people will be people and nothing could change who someone is. Rewards help a little, but inside a person will always stay the same. A just society is a fair society, but no society is fair. People struggle everywhere no matter what while others live the good life. So, a real just society is a society where people help and care about each other.

  1. The mandate of heaven is a theory of ancient China that states that the rulers are given the right to rule from a god-like source. I agree with what the ruler and people are responsible for in society in the mandate of heaven because a ruler is meant to rule and the people should support the ruler or higher power and respect them.

  2. I agree with both Confucianism and Legalism for different reasons. I agree with Confucianism because I believe that humans can't live alone: they have to socialize. Confucianism also has to do with respecting others, like your parents. I feel like that is really important. I agree with Legalism because because I think that people do sometimes act out of self-interest and do whatever they want. Nobody is perfect and respects each other all the time. We are all only human. Even though there are a few things I don't agree with in both Confucianism and Legalism, they are pretty equal in my mind and that is why I agree with both.
