What Makes a Society Just

A society that is just has a fair ruler in charge. I think people are naturally good, because when you are just born, you're basically neutral. It depends on what surrounds you in your childhood and if later on you will make bad decisions. A ruler in society is responsible for making fair decisions that will satisfy everyone. The government's role shouldn't play a big part in owning and distributing health, because it may cause conflict. Any time the government is involved, it causes conflict, so I don't think the government should really be involved as much. Honestly, I think the Character Counts influences peoples' behaviors, because it helps people think of what to do and how they should use the codes in everyday life.

  1. The mandate of heaven is an overall history of china and the zhou dynasty. I agree with what the ruler and people are responsible for in a society, because each group/person has their own role in helping make a society just. For example if people follow the Character Counts and if the ruler is responsible for making fair decisions to satisfy everyone, that will make a better society.

  2. I agree more with Confucianism, because I feel like it's more peaceful and not as strict in laws as Legalism. In Legalism, it states that people should not focus on being loving and caring; they should spy on everyone around them to report any law-breaking. Whereas, in Confucianism, people should love and treat each other with respect. I agree with that, because I don't think laws should be everything.
